A Lesson in Unconditional Commitment

Every year thousands of people decide they're going to get into martial arts. Whether their reasons are for fitness or personal protection, the idea of mastery in this field appeals to them. They get the outfits and they register for the lessons. Then the reality sets in.

• It has been estimated that for every 10,000 people who sign up for martial arts lessons only half remain after one month.
• That number drops by half again after two months.
• After six months, about 1,000 are left.
• At one year, only around 500 remain.
• Only one person out of that original 10,000 will truly master the art. Only one will go on to learn enough to teach others.

In other words, everyone wants to be a master. Only a select few have the unconditional commitment it requires to reach that level of excellence.

What does this have to do with achieving the highest levels of excellence in dentistry? I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
