Your Dental Practice: Avoid Restrictive Patterns of Thinking

"How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?"
I came across this deceptively profound question some time ago in a book I found, and it really got me thinking. It is a question that has implications beyond just how old you feel. It is a question that can inspire you to think about the way you think.
The obvious point that is being made with that question is that there are certain expectations that come with having lived a certain length of time, and that we tend to act our age according to those expectations. In many ways, however, those expectations represent unnecessary limitations—they are false barriers that get in the way of our real possibilities in life.
"I don't do that kind of dentistry in my dental practice."
"My dental practice is not in the right area for that."
"My patients just wouldn't go for that."
"My team doesn't get it."
These are the mental roadblocks we allow ourselves to put up that prevent us from even getting started on the path to new and exciting opportunities. They are all false barriers, just like the imagined age barrier, and the beauty is that like all false barriers they can be demolished with just a simple shift in your way of thinking.
